CRIMSON (Production)
CRIMSON tells the story of a rogue survivor in a world where an utopian society has taken over and, much like an infection, contaminated most of its citizens. We follow this adventurer as he enters a house trying to find some useful materials but instead facing horrors and decisions he never expected.
I am impressed by how CRIMSON turned out, in the end, considering we filmed all of it in 6 hours (one day). Looking back there are many aspects that I would do different but I believe this concept worked very well for a short horror film with no dialogue. I believe the visuals create a certain tension and the film is kept interesting and engaging during all of its duration.
My main goal with this short movie was to dip into a world but not fully explain it, leave the horror elements to the imagination of the viewer. I find it interesting to hear the opinion and interpretations of other people when watching it. Therefore, by only accompanying this normal human striving to survive in an unknown situation and only picking up the pieces as he perceives them himself we are left with a sense of unknown danger that only helps the thriller and horror elements.
I find it incredible and funny that the red and blue lighting achieved here was done with t-shirts over normal LED lights. It was a trick I found on Reddit but I was impressed that it worked so well.
I hope to able to do experiment more with different shots and lighting in the future, this was a great experience. I would also be interested in perhaps dipping once more into this universe I have created in my mind.
